Rattle Özsuca Duo

Sacha Rattle (clarinet) and Zeynep Özsuca (piano)

Thursday, 7th April 2022 – 7.30pm
REARRANGED FROM 18TH JANUARY

Performers

Zeynep Özsuca made a huge impression on our audience when she accompanied the saxophonist, Jess Gillam, at the Queen’s Hall in 2019 and we are delighted to welcome her back to Hexham with her other duo partner, the clarinettist, Sacha Rattle.

Both Zeynep and Sacha have successful international careers as soloists and chamber musicians. The names of the musicians the duo have performed with read  like a who’s who of musical greats: they include Gustavo Dudamel, Antonio Pappano, Simon Rattle, Mitsuko Uchida, Lars Vogt and Isabelle Faust – to name but a few. Zeynep and Sacha also appear regularly with the wind and piano sextet, Berlin Counterpoint.

The duo’s programme tonight is a  great showcase for the two instruments, embracing romantic classics by Schumann and Brahms, a rarely heard gem by Stanford and Bernstein’s early sonata.

Programme

Hindemith Sonata for Clarinet and Piano in B-flat major

Stanford Three Intermezzi, op. 13

Bernstein Sonata for Clarinet and Piano

Schumann Fantasiestücke, op. 73

Berg Four Pieces, op. 5

Brahms Sonata in F minor for Clarinet and Piano, op. 120 no. 1
