A welcome return to Hexham for KOTTOS who wowed audiences at the 2018 Nordic Voices Festival.
Join us for an afternoon of music ranging from Vivaldi to Piazzolla and the group’s own compositions. Look out for KOTTOS’s brand new arrangements of Nielsen’s Aladdin Suite and Vaughan Williams’s 6 Studies in English Folk Song – both being played for the first time this afternoon.
KOTTOS are no conventional quartet. They play recorders of all sizes, a Russian concert accordion, guitar and cello. And their name? It comes from a giant in ancient Greek mythology. He was the son of Gaia, the earth, and Uranus, the sky, and had 100 arms and 50 heads – an enchanting and dangerous creature which KOTTOS say they resemble in their playing. We shall soon see!
